New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Sunday that he will surrender at Tihar prison around 3 p.m.
Prior to his surrender, the Chief Minister plans to visit Rajghat and the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place.
“I have been out campaigning for 21 days as per the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court. I am very grateful to the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Today, I will surrender at Tihar. I will leave home at 3 p.m. First, I will visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Then, I will proceed to the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place to seek blessings. After that, I will visit the party office to meet with party workers and leaders before heading to Tihar,” Kejriwal wrote on X in Hindi on Sunday.
“Take care of yourselves. I will take care of you all while in jail. If you are happy, then your Kejriwal will also be happy in jail,” the Chief Minister added in his tweet.
Earlier, a Delhi court on Saturday reserved its order on Kejriwal’s interim bail plea, in which he sought seven days’ bail on medical grounds related to a money laundering case involving the alleged excise policy scam.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court reserved the verdict, which is scheduled to be announced on June 5. Kejriwal’s counsel cited medical reasons for the bail request.
