New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court seeking a seven-day extension of his interim bail on health grounds in connection with a money laundering case linked to the excise policy scam.
On May 10, the Supreme Court granted Kejriwal interim bail for 21 days to enable him to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. However, the court restricted him from visiting his office or the Delhi secretariat and from signing official files unless absolutely necessary for obtaining the lieutenant governor’s approval.
In his recent plea, the Chief Minister has requested an extension of the interim bail by seven days, citing health issues, including a weight loss of seven kilograms.
The plea states that the Chief Minister needs to undergo several medical tests, and therefore, the interim bail, which expires on June 1, should be extended.
This case pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government’s now-scrapped excise policy for 2021-22.
