Economic Survey to Be Presented in Parliament Ahead of Union Budget 2025-26
The Economic Survey, a key document outlining the state of the Indian economy for the past fiscal year, will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Friday, February 2, at 12 p.m. This document comes one day before the presentation of the Union Budget 2025-26.
The survey will be tabled in the Lok Sabha at 12 p.m. and in the Rajya Sabha at 2 p.m. It is prepared under the supervision of Chief Economic Advisor V. Anantha Nageswaran and is expected to provide crucial insights into the economy, along with forecasts for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Economic Survey is an important precursor to the Union Budget, offering an outlook on economic growth, inflation, and other key factors that inform government policy. The document sets the tone for the fiscal policies outlined in the budget and often provides a glimpse of the government’s economic priorities.
The Budget Session of Parliament will officially begin with the presentation of the Economic Survey, and will conclude on April 4. The session will include a break from February 14 to March 10.
In addition to the Economic Survey, President Droupadi Murmu will address a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament on Friday at 11 a.m. to lay the groundwork for the Union Budget presentation. Finance Minister Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for the eighth consecutive time on Saturday, February 1.
The Union Budget and the Economic Survey hold great significance in shaping India’s fiscal future and are closely followed by policymakers, economists, and industry experts across the country.
