Central Government Expands Leave Travel Concession (LTC) to Include Premier Trains
The central government has announced a significant relaxation in the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) rules for its employees, enabling them to travel on premium trains such as Vande Bharat, Tejas, and Humsafar Express under the LTC scheme. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the revised guidelines on Thursday.
Previously, the LTC scheme permitted travel only on superfast express trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto. Premium services, including Vande Bharat, were not part of the LTC travel options. This change comes as a result of a review of suggestions and requests from various government organizations and employees, aimed at making the scheme more flexible and convenient.
Under the updated LTC guidelines, central government employees can now avail themselves of paid leave and reimbursement for travel tickets on these premier trains, providing them with additional travel options and enhanced comfort. This move is expected to benefit government employees by improving the ease and quality of their travel during official or personal trips under the LTC scheme.
