The recent surge in violent incidents in Jammu and Kashmir has sparked significant concern, prompting the central government to intensify its crackdown on terrorism. In response, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level meeting in Delhi on Sunday to address the law and order situation in the region. Sources indicate that Shah issued directives to accelerate anti-terrorism efforts.

With the Amarnath Yatra set to commence on June 29, involving the participation of millions of devotees, Shah also reviewed the necessary security measures. Discussions with officials focused on force deployment at international borders, thwarting infiltration attempts, and enhancing counter-terrorism operations.

In the past four days, Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed a series of terrorist attacks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently assessed the situation alongside Home Minister Amit Shah, NSA Ajit Doval, and Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha. Following this review, the Prime Minister ordered the full mobilization of forces to eliminate terrorism, signaling a ramp-up in counter-terrorism actions.

Today’s meeting, chaired by Amit Shah, included key figures such as NSA Ajit Doval, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, and other senior officials. This assembly follows a terrorist attack on a tourist bus targeting pilgrims, coinciding with Modi’s swearing-in as Prime Minister. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group for Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility and has threatened further attacks.
