Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy Responds to Challenges and Criticisms

At a Kodangal constituency-level party workers’ meeting in Maddur, Narayanpet district, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy addressed recent challenges and criticisms thrown at him by Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao and BJP candidate for Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha seat, DK Aruna.

Responding to the challenge presented by Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao to waive off crop loans amounting to Rs 2 lakh by August 15 or step down, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy retorted by emphasizing the commitment of the Congress party. He stated, “Even if the sun were to change its direction to rise, or if my uncle KCR were to commit suicide at his farmhouse, the Congress will waive off the loans by August 15.”

Furthermore, he cautioned bankers against sending notices to farmers to repay their loans, asserting that such actions will not be tolerated by the state government.

CM’s Response to DK Aruna’s Allegations

In response to DK Aruna’s allegations that he disrespected her as a woman, Revanth Reddy emphasized that he holds no personal animosity towards her or any other competitor in the Palamuru region. He questioned Aruna’s record as irrigation minister, particularly highlighting her obstruction of the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation scheme, despite the willingness of then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to approve the project.

Revanth also questioned Aruna on the lack of development initiatives in the region during her tenure, including road construction, establishment of educational institutions, and securing national project status for the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme. He accused the BJP of attempting to sow discord among the electorate to secure electoral victory.

Further Remarks on Previous BRS Government’s Financial Management

Revanth disclosed that the Congress government inherited a revenue deficit of Rs 3,900 crore and has paid Rs 26,000 crore in interest on debts accumulated during the previous BRS government’s tenure. Drawing a comparison, he likened former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s governance to that of a spendthrift, stating that Rao’s actions were akin to a reckless spender selling off household possessions.

Revanth’s Commitments on Congress’ Initiatives

Revanth highlighted the following achievements and initiatives of the Congress government in the past 100 days:

  • An allocation of Rs 4,500 crore for timely payment of government employee salaries.
  • A release of Rs 200 crore by the State government for the Rajiv Arogyasri scheme.
  • 35,000 women have availed free travel in RTC buses since the launch of the fare-free scheme for women.
  • The State government has disbursed Rs 1,369 crore to TSRTC to compensate for free fare for women.
  • Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, 40 lakh women have availed LPG cylinders at a Rs 500 subsidy.
  • 45 lakh households are provided with free electricity up to 200 units.
  • Construction of 4,50,000 Indiramma houses at a cost of Rs 22,500 crore is underway.

Revanth concluded by affirming his commitment to the development of the Palamuru region, promising initiatives that would benefit the area for the next 100 years.
