Rasikh Salam Makes IPL 2025 Auction Headlines with Rs 6 Crore Deal to RCB
Jeddah, Nov 24: Former Delhi Capitals bowler Rasikh Salam emerged as the star attraction of the IPL 2025 Auction, bagging an impressive Rs 6 crore deal from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the uncapped pacers list at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah on Sunday.
Salam, who started with a base price of Rs 30 lakh, sparked an intense bidding war between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The price quickly surged past Rs 1 crore, with both franchises showcasing keen interest. RCB’s aggressive bidding eventually outlasted SRH, and with Delhi Capitals using their Right to Match (RTM) option, RCB continued to raise the stakes, securing Salam for a whopping Rs 6 crore.
The 2025 IPL Auction also saw other notable signings, including veteran pacer Mohit Sharma moving to Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 2.2 crore and Simarjeet Singh joining Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 1.5 crore. Mohit Sharma, starting with a base price of Rs 50 lakh, ignited a bidding war between Gujarat Titans (GT) and DC, with DC ultimately prevailing after a fierce exchange.
Akash Madhwal, a standout performer in IPL 2023, saw Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) battle for his services, with RR securing the pacer for Rs 1.2 crore. Vyshak Vijaykumar, whose base price was Rs 30 lakh, attracted bids from both Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings, with PBKS clinching him for Rs 1.8 crore.
Other signings included Vaibhav Arora, who went to KKR for Rs 1.8 crore after a bidding war with Rajasthan Royals, and Yash Thakur, who was secured by PBKS for Rs 1.8 crore after competition from Gujarat Titans.
Despite his promise, Kartik Tyagi went unsold at his base price of Rs 40 lakh, leaving many surprised by the decision.
As the auction progressed, it was clear that franchises were keen to bolster their bowling arsenals, setting the stage for an exciting IPL 2025 season.
