Damascus: The Syrian Defense Ministry has disclosed that Israel executed an aerial assault originating from the occupied Golan Heights, targeting a military installation near the Syrian capital, Damascus. The attack resulted in eight soldiers sustaining injuries and significant material damages.
While the Defense Ministry’s statement did not furnish additional specifics, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights indicated on Thursday that explosions reverberated across the southwestern outskirts of Damascus. These detonations occurred precisely along the administrative demarcation between Quneitra province and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
As per the report by the Britain-based monitoring organization, these explosions coincided with the presence of suspected Israeli drones, as relayed by the Xinhua news agency.
Rami Abdul-Rahman, Director of the observatory, affirmed that the available information is presently limited.
This assault follows a purported reduction in Israeli incursions over the preceding month, which the Director of the Syrian Observatory attributed to the strikes on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1st.
The targeted areas are recognized as bastions for factions affiliated with Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias, according to assessments by the observatory.
