Swami Swaroopananda, the spiritual leader of Vizag Sarada Peetham, gained prominence in political circles due to his close association with former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, performing a ‘Rajasyamala Yagam’ ahead of the 2019 elections. He was hailed as Jagan’s influential advisor, with even ministers visiting Sarada Peetham frequently.
Following Jagan’s recent electoral defeat, Swaroopananda has notably shifted his political stance, distancing himself from his previous affiliations. In a recent press conference, he expressed satisfaction with the NDA alliance’s victory, aiming to dispel any misconceptions about Sarada Peetham without fear.
Swaroopananda emphasized that Sarada Peetham never leveraged its connections for personal gain, blessing the new government and highlighting the auspicious timing of Chandrababu Naidu’s oath-taking. He expressed a desire to establish a Saradha Peetham in Amaravati, coinciding with ongoing developments in the capital.
Addressing his praise for Chandra Babu Naidu, Swaroopananda clarified his consistent support, having conducted rituals for Naidu’s electoral victories in the past. He voiced respect for Naidu and hopes for temple welfare under the new administration, also extending best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his recent inauguration.
Observers note Swaroopananda’s significant shift post-election, suggesting that spiritual leaders, like politicians, adapt to align with ruling governments.
