Telugu choreographer Jani Master is currently under scrutiny following serious allegations of sexual harassment made by a 21-year-old assistant dancer. The complaint led to the registration of an FIR, and Jani Master has since been arrested in Bengaluru by Telangana police.
The police formed multiple teams to locate and apprehend him, and efforts are underway to transport him to Hyderabad. As a result of the allegations, Jani Master has been suspended from his association, and the Telugu film chamber has initiated an inquiry into the matter.
The case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as the victim claims that the abuse began when she was underage. She reported first meeting Jani Master in 2017 and working as his assistant choreographer starting in 2019. The allegations include incidents of sexual assault, notably one that occurred in a Mumbai hotel during a show, as well as threats of violence aimed at silencing her.
In addition to the sexual harassment claims, the victim accused Jani Master of subjecting her to mental harassment during their professional interactions, which included rehearsals and photoshoots.
