Hyderabad Welcomes New Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma
On Wednesday, Hyderabad witnessed a significant administrative transition as Jishnu Dev Varma, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, was formally sworn in as the Governor of Telangana. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Telangana Chief Minister K. Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues.
The oath of office was administered by Alok Aradhe, the Chief Justice of Telangana. The event was also attended by Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy and several senior officials, underscoring its importance.
Earlier in the day, Jishnu Dev Varma was received with a ceremonial welcome at the airport by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, and Director General of Police Jitender. This warm reception marked the beginning of his new role in the state.
In his remarks, Varma expressed gratitude to the President and the Prime Minister for appointing him as Telangana’s Governor. He highlighted the historic nature of his appointment, noting that it represents a milestone for Tripura, being the first time since Independence that someone from his home state has been appointed to this prestigious position.
Varma’s appointment is anticipated to bring a new dimension to the governance of Telangana, reflecting a broader representation of India’s diverse states in key administrative roles.
