KCR Criticizes Telangana Budget 2024-25 as Lacking Substance and Vision

Hyderabad – K Chandrashekhar Rao, Leader of the Opposition and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief, expressed strong criticism against the Telangana Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, describing it as devoid of innovation and meaningful policies that address the state’s pressing issues.

Key Points of Critique

Speaking to reporters at the Telangana Assembly, KCR emphasized that the budget fails to introduce any new substantial policies. He accused the current government of neglecting the aspirations of Telangana’s people and characterized the budget as a disappointment for its lack of concrete initiatives.

Response to Allegations

Addressing allegations from Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka regarding irregularities in the irrigation sector under the BRS regime, KCR defended his government’s policies, highlighting the implementation of Rythu Bandhu funds twice a year to support farmers. He criticized the Congress-led government’s stance on these grants, labeling it as anti-farmer.

Budget Highlights

The Telangana Budget 2024-25, presented with a total outlay of Rs 2.91 lakh crore, includes Rs 2.21 lakh crore in revenue and Rs 33,487 crore for capital expenditures. Key allocations proposed include Rs 72,659 crore for agriculture, Rs 21,292 crore for education, Rs 22,301 crore for irrigation, and Rs 29,816 crore for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development.

Financial Outlook

Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the state’s rising debt, reaching Rs 6.71 lakh crore, attributing significant increases in the past decade without proportional development outcomes. He noted the recent increase in debt and efforts to manage repayments since assuming office.

KCR’s critique underscores the contrasting viewpoints on the efficacy and priorities of the Telangana Budget 2024-25, setting the stage for continued debate and scrutiny in the state’s legislative proceedings. Stay updated for further developments and reactions to the unfolding budgetary decisions.
