Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, addressing a roadshow in Nagarkurnool’s Lok Sabha constituency, criticized the ruling Congress and BJP, accusing them of failing to fulfill their promises to the people. He advocated for his party, BRS, to emerge victorious in the Lok Sabha polls to advocate on behalf of the populace.
Rao alleged that the Congress had ascended to power in the state through deceitful promises and misinformation. He questioned the implementation of Congress’ pledges such as the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ investment support scheme for farmers, Rs two lakh farm loan waiver, provision of “two-wheelers” for girls, and a Rs 500 bonus on Minimum Support Price (MSP), to which the crowd responded negatively.
Underlining his government’s accomplishments, Rao highlighted the provision of 24×7 power supply during his tenure compared to the present erratic electricity distribution under the Congress regime. He lamented the reported deaths of around 225 farmers since the Congress came to power.
Expressing his need for public support to compel the Congress government to fulfill its promises, Rao criticized the BJP, stating that fuel prices have escalated since the Modi government assumed office.
Rao scrutinized the efficacy of the NDA government’s initiatives such as ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,’ Start-Up India, and bullet trains, questioning their impact on the lives of Dalits and the impoverished. He lamented the BJP-led NDA government’s failure to sanction medical colleges and Navodaya schools despite requests during his tenure.
Rao warned that voting for the Congress in Nagarkurnool and neighboring Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha seats would lead to BJP’s victory, urging Muslims to ensure BRS’ success. He reaffirmed BRS’ commitment to secular principles.
BRS, which secured nine out of 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana in the 2019 polls, seeks to regain momentum after its defeat in the previous assembly elections. The upcoming parliamentary elections on May 13 will be pivotal for the party’s resurgence.
