Keerthy Suresh’s ‘Raghu Thatha’ Skips Telugu Release Amidst Theatre Competition
Following the success of Mahanati, Keerthy Suresh struggled to replicate that success in the South, particularly in Telugu cinema. Despite several attempts with commercial and female-centric films, none achieved the desired impact. Her upcoming film, Raghu Thatha, is set to release on August 15, but it will not be available in Telugu-speaking regions.
Typically, Keerthy Suresh’s films are dubbed into Telugu, but Raghu Thatha deviates from this pattern due to an oversaturation of films in the Telugu market. Major releases such as Double iSmart, Mr. Bachchan, Thangalan, Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein, and Veda are competing for screen space, leaving little room for Raghu Thatha. As a result, the film faces the risk of being shown in a limited number of theaters.
This situation mirrors previous instances where Tamil films like Ayalaan and Captain Miller encountered similar challenges during peak seasons, struggling to secure simultaneous Tamil-Telugu releases due to theater constraints.
Produced by Hombale Films, renowned for their work on KGF, the makers of Raghu Thatha remain optimistic about the film’s success. Should the film perform well in its original Tamil version, there may be a possibility of a delayed Telugu release, though this remains uncertain.
