Arvind Kejriwal to Vacate Official Residence Following Resignation
New Delhi: Outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has submitted his resignation letter to Lt Governor V.K. Saxena and is expected to vacate his official bungalow in north Delhi’s Civil Lines within the next two weeks, according to a party functionary. Following his departure from the official residence, Kejriwal and his family will continue to reside in Delhi while searching for new accommodation.
Under the rules governing official residences, Kejriwal is required to vacate the bungalow within one month of his resignation.
In his resignation announcement, Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in relentless “mudslinging and slandering,” challenging the public to judge his honesty. The BJP has been critical of Kejriwal, particularly targeting the renovations of the bungalow, which they referred to as ‘Sheesh Mahal,’ alleging that funds from the public exchequer were misused for its refurbishment.
Kejriwal’s residence history includes living in Kaushambi, Ghaziabad, prior to his initial tenure as Chief Minister in December 2013. During his first term, he resided at a house on Tilak Lane in central Delhi. Following the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) return to power in February 2015, he moved to the 6, Flagstaff Road residence in Civil Lines.
