Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s Office Denounces Media for ‘Fake News’ Claims
Thiruvananthapuram: The office of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan issued a robust rebuttal on Sunday, October 6, targeting specific media outlets for allegedly fabricating stories about the CM’s meetings with staff at his office and residence.
The controversy arose following reports suggesting that a recent meeting held at the Chief Minister’s official residence was linked to deliberations regarding the future of ADGP (Law and Order) M R Ajithkumar. Ajithkumar has faced criticism from opposition parties, including the Congress and the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) partner CPI, over his purported interactions with RSS leaders.
In its statement, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) clarified that it is standard procedure for the chief minister to convene with his personal staff, including his private and political secretaries, as part of the regular operations of his office.
“This is an everyday occurrence at the chief minister’s office in the capital,” the statement emphasized, dismissing the media narrative as unfounded.
The CMO condemned the media’s approach, stating, “Creating news about someone from the personal staff arriving at the CM’s residence to discuss something special, without any form of verification, does not reflect media ethics or decorum.”
Furthermore, the statement expressed concern that such “irresponsible attempts to create fake news” could jeopardize the media’s credibility and integrity.
