New Delhi: Against the backdrop of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued advice on Friday for Indian nationals intending to travel to these nations, urging them to exercise vigilance and maintain communication with the Indian Embassy.
Responding to a media inquiry regarding travel advisories for Iran and Israel, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “We are closely monitoring the situation in the region. It has been observed that both Iran and Israel have recently opened their airspace. We advise Indian nationals to remain vigilant while visiting these countries and to keep in touch with the Indian Embassy.”
Earlier, on April 14, the Indian embassy in Israel issued an advisory to Indian citizens within the country, urging them to stay composed and adhere to safety protocols as instructed by local authorities.
The embassy emphasized its continuous surveillance of the situation and its ongoing communication with Israeli authorities.
“In light of recent developments in the region, we advise all Indian nationals in Israel to remain calm and abide by the safety guidelines provided by local authorities (https://www.oref.org.il/en). The embassy is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with Israeli authorities and members of the Indian community to ensure the safety of all our citizens,” stated the Indian embassy in Israel.
Furthermore, the embassy provided an emergency helpline number for Indian citizens in Israel.
“For urgent assistance, please contact the Embassy via the 24/7 Emergency Helpline/Contact: Tel: +972-547520711, +972-543278392. Email: cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in,” it added.
Recently, on April 19, Israel launched missile strikes against Tehran, following Iran’s deployment of drones and missiles on April 13 towards Israel, in retaliation for an alleged Israeli airstrike on its consulate in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of three senior Iranian generals.
