The recent poll results in Andhra Pradesh have significantly altered the state’s political landscape. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), led by Chandrababu Naidu, has emerged victorious, securing 135 out of 175 Assembly seats and 16 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats. Together with its alliance, TDP+ holds a commanding 164 seats in the Assembly. This decisive victory paves the way for Naidu to assume the role of Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the fourth time.
In response to these results, Naidu has implemented measures to ensure transparency and accountability within the government. Notably, Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy has been asked to go on immediate leave.
This decision is viewed as a crucial step towards eliminating any corrupt or partisan elements that may have influenced the administration. Previously, Reddy was known to favor YS Jagan, which had caused considerable friction with the then-opposition TDP.
Another significant development is Naidu’s refusal to grant an audience to PSR Anjaneyulu, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Intelligence, at his residence. Anjaneyulu had been known for his vigorous pursuit of TDP officials and politicians, and his transfer by the Election Commission before the polls was seen as an effort to curb his controversial activities. Naidu’s decision not to meet with Anjaneyulu underscores his commitment to fair and impartial governance.
These actions by Naidu have been well-received by the party cadres, who are optimistic about the forthcoming administrative team. Known for assembling a team of top-notch professionals who are dedicated to public service, Naidu’s future appointments are highly anticipated.
