Natural Star Nani Takes Responsibility for “Ante Sundaraniki” Disappointment
Natural Star Nani has publicly taken responsibility for the underwhelming reception of his film Ante Sundaraniki, which was directed by Vivek Athreya. Despite the film’s strong narrative and direction, it did not meet audience expectations and was deemed a failure by some critics.
In a candid statement, Nani admitted that his presence in the film may have contributed to its shortcomings. “I discussed this with Vivek multiple times. The story of Ante Sundaraniki had the potential to engage a wide audience, but I failed to align with the journey and image I carry,” he said. Nani reflected that while the story and its execution were commendable, his star persona overshadowed the characters, leading to a disconnect with viewers.
Nani explained that while he enjoyed the film’s nuances during its screening, he recognized that audiences were more focused on his star image rather than the characters he portrayed. “On the release day, I realized that the audience’s restlessness was due to viewing the film as a star’s vehicle rather than a character-driven story. The comedy, which was an essential element, took a backseat,” he added.
Concluding his remarks, Nani acknowledged that his involvement might have been a mismatch for the film’s intended appeal. “It was a well-made film, but I was the wrong fit for it,” he stated, accepting responsibility for the film’s failure and its impact on its reception.
