The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police plans to interrogate nine NEET candidates in connection with the question paper leak, accompanied by their parents, in Patna on Tuesday. EOU has formed a Special Investigating Team (SIT) for the inquiry, which is scheduled to span two days. Initially, Patna Police issued notices to 11 candidates for questioning, with two candidates expected to join later. The investigation aims to determine how their roll numbers and codes were accessed by a group facilitating answers.
Patna Police uncovered links between the roll numbers and codes of these candidates and a group providing answers. Upon transferring the case to EOU, authorities requested details from the National Testing Agency (NTA) on the 11 candidates and subsequently summoned them for questioning. The NEET exam, held on May 5, saw question papers leaked the previous day, leading Patna Police to arrest 13 individuals, including six facilitators, four students, and three parents.
EOU seeks custody of four detained candidates to explore potential involvement among the 11 suspects. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledged irregularities and vowed strict action against guilty NTA officials. The candidates, hailing from various Bihar districts, include seven girls. EOU has requested the original NEET question paper from NTA to aid the investigation, yet NTA has not yet complied, hindering progress. A team from EOU plans to visit New Delhi to confer with NTA officials on the matter.
