Prime Minister Modi to Launch ₹12,850 Crore Health Sector Initiatives on Ayurveda Day

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch and inaugurate a series of health sector projects worth approximately ₹12,850 crore at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. This event coincides with Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day.

A key highlight of the occasion will be the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) to include health coverage for all senior citizens aged 70 and above, ensuring access to healthcare services regardless of income.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated that this initiative reflects Modi’s commitment to enhancing quality healthcare across the country. Among the inaugurations will be Phase II of AIIA, featuring a Panchakarma hospital, an Ayurvedic pharmacy, a sports medicine unit, a central library, an incubation center for IT startups, and a 500-seat auditorium.

In addition, the Prime Minister will inaugurate three medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh and extend services at several All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) facilities across various states, including Bilaspur, Kalyani, Patna, Gorakhpur, Bhopal, Guwahati, and New Delhi.

Furthermore, Modi will inaugurate a Super Specialty Block in Government Medical College, Bilaspur, and a Critical Care Block in Bargarh, Odisha. He will also lay the foundation for five new Nursing Colleges in Madhya Pradesh and establish 21 Critical Care Blocks in multiple states under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

Additional inaugurations include the ESIC Hospital in Indore and foundation stones for several other ESIC hospitals across India. These healthcare projects are expected to benefit around 55 lakh ESI beneficiaries.

Prime Minister Modi will also introduce drone services at 11 Tertiary Healthcare Institutions, enhancing service delivery and accessibility. Initiatives include the launch of the U-WIN portal for digitalizing vaccinations for pregnant women and infants, as well as a centralized portal for healthcare professionals and institutes.

To bolster research and testing infrastructure, Modi will inaugurate a Central Drugs Testing Laboratory in Odisha and lay the foundation for Central Research Institutes in Yoga and Naturopathy.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will launch four Ayush Centres of Excellence, focusing on diabetes, sustainable Ayush solutions, and research in Ayurveda. He will also inaugurate projects under the Production Linked Incentive scheme for medical devices and bulk drugs across multiple states.

Lastly, a nationwide health awareness campaign, “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan,” will be launched, alongside state-specific Action Plans addressing Climate Change and Human Health, aimed at developing resilient healthcare services.
