Upasana Kamineni Konidela Opens Up About Postpartum Depression, Advocates Prioritizing Maternal Well-Being
Hyderabad: Upasana Kamineni Konidela, spouse of actor Ram Charan, recently shared her journey coping with postpartum depression during an interview with The Times of India. She disclosed Charan’s supportive role, highlighting his decision to relocate to her parents’ residence to offer assistance during this challenging phase.
Describing Charan as a devoted father, Upasana expressed gratitude for his unwavering support, stating, “He has been my pillar of strength. Throughout my postpartum period, my husband acted as my therapist and moved in with me to my parents’ home. While recognizing that every mother’s experience differs, she stressed the significance of prioritizing maternal well-being and advocating seeking professional help when necessary.”
Their daughter, Klin Kaara Konidela, was born in June 2023.
Focusing on the importance of maternal health, Upasana underscored the necessity of seeking professional assistance as needed. She highlighted Charan’s active involvement in parenting and his affectionate care towards Klin Kaara, which enriched their parenthood journey.
“His nurturing care and active involvement in Klin Kaara’s upbringing have enhanced this phase significantly. Her dietary preferences reflect her father’s influence, truly embodying the Konidela legacy,” she added.
Acknowledging the challenges of balancing motherhood with professional commitments, Upasana admitted to experiencing moments of guilt when away from her daughter. She and Charan often find themselves more emotional than Klin Kaara. Despite the emotional toll, Upasana relies on her mother, Shobana Kamineni, for support during these times.
“As a working mother, it’s heart-rending to be apart from Kaara. Charan and I often find ourselves shedding more tears than she does. Moments of guilt are inevitable,” she shared.
