Ramlath Praises Prabhu Deva’s Commitment to Their Children Post-Divorce
In a rare and heartfelt public acknowledgment, Ramlath, former wife of acclaimed choreographer, actor, and director Prabhu Deva, has spoken fondly about his continued dedication and love for their children, more than a decade after their divorce. In a recent interview with a Tamil YouTube channel, Ramlath opened up about their current relationship and the bond Prabhu Deva shares with their sons.
Ramlath and Prabhu Deva ended their 16-year marriage in 2011, a separation that garnered significant media attention, particularly due to Prabhu Deva’s relationship at the time with actress Nayanthara. Despite the challenges surrounding their split, Ramlath stated that they maintain a cordial and cooperative relationship, especially when it comes to parenting.
“We continue to maintain a cordial relationship for the sake of our children. They are his life,” Ramlath said. “He shares a deep bond with both our sons. Regardless of the situation, father and sons are always in touch with each other.”
She revealed that major decisions regarding their children are still made jointly, showing mutual respect and shared responsibility. “He’s always been involved. We consult each other when it comes to the children, and that mutual respect has remained intact,” she said.
The interview followed a recent event in Chennai where their son Rishi performed a dance on stage with Prabhu Deva. Ramlath expressed immense pride, stating, “There’s no need to spell it out—he shares his father’s blood, and that’s where the magic comes from.”
Reflecting on the difficult period during their separation, Ramlath acknowledged the emotional strain but emphasized that she has moved on with grace. “This is life, and one must accept it,” she said. “I have moved forward. He has always shown me respect after the divorce, and I’ve never had reason to speak poorly of him.”
She also addressed Prabhu Deva’s new chapter, noting his remarriage and the birth of his daughter, but reaffirmed that he remains a responsible and devoted father to their sons.
