TDP Pushes for Action as Chandrababu Naidu’s Government Begins to Implement ‘Red Book’ Promise
During his ‘Yuva Galam’ yatra last year, Nara Lokesh, the TDP general secretary and current IT Minister, issued a stern warning to government officials and YSR Congress party leaders. He vowed to document their alleged misdeeds in a ‘Red Book’ and address these issues once the TDP returned to power. Carrying the ‘Red Book’ throughout his campaign, Lokesh reassured party supporters of his commitment to accountability.
With Chandrababu Naidu now serving as Chief Minister, there is mounting pressure from TDP cadre for the government to act on the promises made regarding the ‘Red Book.’ They demand that the government take decisive action against officials and YSR Congress party leaders who allegedly abused their positions, violated rules, and committed various atrocities over the past five years.
Initial frustration within the TDP ranks over the perceived slow implementation of the ‘Red Book’ promise has been somewhat alleviated by recent developments. The arrest of former Minister Jogi Ramesh’s son by ACB officials in connection with a multi-crore scam involving Agrigold lands signals the government’s intention to address corruption and misconduct.
Jogi Ramesh, who had secured a ministerial position through alleged attacks on Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh, was implicated in this latest scandal. Additionally, there is an ongoing search for Vallabaneni Vamshi, who was involved in an attack on a TDP office in 2021.
The arrest of Ramesh’s son and other actions suggest that the Chandrababu Naidu administration is beginning to make good on its ‘Red Book’ pledge. It is anticipated that further repercussions will follow for other prominent YSR Congress party leaders who were involved in controversial actions over the past five years.
