Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Questions Accountability in Sandhya Theater Tragedy, Criticizes Focus on Allu Arjun’s Arrest
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has raised significant concerns about the lack of accountability in the aftermath of the tragic incident at Sandhya Theater, where a woman lost her life during a stampede. He criticized the ongoing focus on actor Allu Arjun’s arrest, questioning why there has been little attention given to the deceased woman or the responsibility for her death.
A Call for Accountability
In an interview with Aaj Tak during his visit to Delhi, Revanth Reddy pointed out the disproportionate focus on Allu Arjun’s arrest while the loss of the woman’s life has not been adequately addressed. “People are asking about Allu Arjun being arrested, but no one is asking about the deceased woman or who is responsible for her death,” he remarked. He also expressed deep concern for the woman’s son, who remains in the hospital receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.
Allegations of Irregularities at the Event
Reddy further elaborated on the incident, linking it to alleged irregularities surrounding the Pushpa-2 benefit show. He claimed that the ticket prices for the show, which were supposed to be ₹300, were instead sold at ₹1,300, suggesting that the event was mishandled from the start. He also questioned the timing of Allu Arjun’s arrest, noting that it took place ten days after the incident, while stressing that no celebrity should be exempt from the law.
Role of Allu Arjun in the Incident
Revanth Reddy accused Allu Arjun of inciting chaos at the event by climbing onto a car in front of the theater, which he believes contributed to the uncontrolled situation. He suggested that such an incident could have been avoided if proper coordination had taken place with the police beforehand. Reddy further advised actors, like Allu Arjun, who want to attend public events, to either watch films in home theaters or inform the authorities in advance to ensure safety measures are in place.
A Personal Perspective
Despite his criticism of Allu Arjun, Revanth Reddy acknowledged a personal connection with the actor, noting that he has known him since childhood and that Allu Arjun’s wife is a member of his family. However, he did not shy away from criticizing the broader film industry for prioritizing profit over accountability in situations like these.
Reflections on Stardom and Politics
In the interview, Revanth Reddy also shared his thoughts on stardom, noting that he has been a fan of the late superstar Krishna and commenting, “Now, I am a star too, with a significant number of fans.” Regarding recent election results in Maharashtra and Haryana, he suggested that questions about those outcomes should be directed to the respective state leaders, indicating his focus on state-level issues.
