Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently defended himself after multiple police cases were filed against him for posting morphed pictures of political figures Nara Lokesh, Pawan Kalyan, and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu over a year ago. Despite the police issuing notices for questioning, Varma requested an extension, stating that the timing and nature of the cases seemed suspicious.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, RGV expressed his frustration, addressing media speculation that he was absconding. “I am sorry to disappoint those who think I am scared,” he remarked, adding that the cases were filed with no merit and only for intentional purposes. Varma admitted to tweeting about the politicians a year ago but questioned the sudden outrage from third-party individuals who filed the cases after a long delay.
The filmmaker expressed confusion about the cases, stating that the political parties may be using the police for ulterior motives. He emphasized that while he respected the law, he doubted the legitimacy of the charges, highlighting the slow pace of justice in more critical cases. RGV also defended his request for an extension, arguing that the urgency of the case seemed questionable given his ongoing professional commitments.
With the police searching for Varma, his video sheds light on his perspective, claiming the legal action against him may have political undertones, while reiterating his intent to abide by the law.
