RK Roja Criticizes Coalition Government for “Deceiving Women” on International Women’s Day

Former minister and YSR Congress Party leader RK Roja has strongly criticized the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, accusing it of betraying women. Speaking at a press conference at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Roja condemned the government’s actions, claiming it has introduced “nine new deceptions” for women in just nine months. She stated that the government lacks the credibility to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Roja accused the current administration of failing to deliver on its promises made before the elections. She pointed out that while the coalition government had made attractive pledges regarding women’s welfare, it has shown indifference once in power, leaving women in distress. In stark contrast, Roja praised the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that true empowerment for women was achieved under his administration. She highlighted Reddy’s efforts in providing 50% of nominated positions to women and encouraging their participation in governance.

According to Roja, women in the state are now living in fear and are unable to celebrate International Women’s Day with joy. She criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Home Minister V. Anitha for their lack of respect towards women, accusing Naidu of ruling with a vengeance and breaking promises to mothers and the unemployed.

Roja also took aim at Pawan Kalyan, labeling him as a “betrayer of women,” particularly in the Sugali Preethi case. Despite Preethi’s mother joining the Jana Sena Party, Roja questioned why the coalition government had not granted her an appointment after nine months in power. She also raised concerns about the lack of pressure on the central government for a CBI investigation into the case, which Pawan Kalyan had previously demanded.

In conclusion, Roja’s remarks painted the coalition government as one that harms rather than supports women, using International Women’s Day as a platform to highlight what she views as the government’s failure to deliver on its promises to women.
