SFI Telangana Announces Bandh Over Food Safety and Education Issues in Government Schools

The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) Telangana committee has declared a bandh for government schools in Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana on November 30. The protest aims to highlight critical issues such as recurring food poisoning incidents and the government’s failure to address the challenges faced by students in these institutions.

Rising Concerns Over Food Safety

The bandh comes in response to alarming food poisoning cases reported in government and welfare residential schools, which have resulted in severe health complications among students. SFI leaders have expressed their concern that despite the seriousness of these incidents, the state government has not taken adequate measures to ensure the safety of meals served in these schools.

RL Murthy, President of the SFI Telangana committee, voiced his frustration over the government’s inaction, emphasizing that the health and safety of students should be a top priority.

Grievances Over Education Leadership

In addition to food safety, the absence of a dedicated Education Minister in the state for over a year has added to the grievances. T. Nagaraju, General Secretary of the SFI Telangana committee, criticized the government for its failure to address the growing concerns in the education sector, especially in government schools. The lack of leadership and review of the education system has exacerbated issues like inadequate facilities, poor infrastructure, and lack of resources in these institutions.

SFI’s Demands

The SFI has laid out several key demands ahead of the bandh. These include the appointment of an Education Minister, a comprehensive review of the education department, and immediate resolution of long-standing issues faced by students and educators in government schools. The federation has stressed the urgency of addressing these challenges to improve the quality of education and student well-being.

The SFI’s call for a bandh reflects the growing dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of issues in the education sector. The protest is a significant move to bring attention to the alleged neglect of government schools in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.
