Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has emerged as the highest taxpayer among celebrities for the 2023-24 fiscal year, paying a substantial ₹92 crore in taxes. This achievement follows the massive success of his recent blockbuster films Pathaan and Jawan, both of which grossed over ₹1,000 crore each at the global box office, solidifying Khan’s position as one of India’s top earners.
Kollywood star Thalapathy Vijay claimed the second spot on the list, with ₹80 crore in taxes paid, following the incredible success of his film Leo, described as the “Greatest of All Time” by fans and critics alike, which grossed over ₹600 crore. Bollywood actor Salman Khan, popularly known as “Bhaijaan,” ranked third, contributing ₹75 crore in taxes.
Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, who continues to command respect across generations, secured the fourth position, paying ₹71 crore. Cricket icon Virat Kohli, whose stellar performance on the field continues to captivate millions, paid ₹66 crore in taxes, rounding out the top five.
Among female celebrities, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor topped the list, contributing ₹10 crore in taxes.
The figures, revealed by Fortune India, are based on advance tax payments made by these stars, highlighting the significant role they play in contributing to the nation’s economy. These tax contributions are a testament to their massive earning power, driven by successful films, endorsements, and various business ventures.
