Ram Gopal Varma Faces Multiple Cases, Hides Amid Arrest Fears
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been booked in nine cases across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana following controversial posts on social media targeting prominent political figures, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh. These posts have drawn widespread criticism, leading to legal actions.
Despite two notices issued by the Ongole police asking Varma to appear for questioning, the filmmaker has not complied, and authorities suspect he has gone into hiding to evade arrest. To apprehend him, six police teams have been dispatched, conducting searches across Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
Amidst growing speculation about his whereabouts, Varma took to social media to clarify that he has not absconded. In a video message, he denied the accusations, stating that he is merely responding to the legal processes in his own time. Varma also shared his perspective on the cases, claiming that they are politically motivated and lacked merit.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court is slated to hear Varma’s anticipatory bail petitions, and all eyes are on the proceedings to determine whether the filmmaker will receive relief or face arrest. The outcome of the hearing is being closely watched as the case continues to unfold.
