Anumala Tirupati Reddy Responds to Demolition Notice Over Durgam Cheruvu Land Issue
Anumala Tirupati Reddy, the brother of Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, has addressed the demolition notice issued by Serilingampally revenue authorities concerning his property in the Madhapur Amar Society. Reddy clarified that he purchased the residence in 2015, unaware that the land was classified within the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Durgam Cheruvu at the time of purchase.
In his response, Reddy stated that he has no objections to corrective measures if the government confirms that his property is situated on FTL land. He emphasized his willingness to cooperate with any actions taken by the government as part of its broader initiative to tackle encroachments.
The notice, part of a larger crackdown on properties near Durgam Cheruvu lake, was issued under Section 23(1) of the Water, Land and Tree Act (WALTA). It mandates that structures found to be encroaching upon the non-development zone of the lake be removed within 30 days. Failure to comply will result in the authorities executing the demolitions themselves.
The crackdown has extended to several areas, including Nectars Colony, Doctors Colony, Kavuri Hills, and Amar Society, with similar notices affecting residents and businesses. The enforcement effort, led by the Rangareddy district collector and Serilingampally deputy collector, aims to address unauthorized constructions and restore regulatory compliance around the lake.
This initiative has generated considerable concern among affected residents and local businesses, highlighting the ongoing challenges in balancing development with environmental and regulatory considerations.
