Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy Addresses Flood Crisis in Emergency Meeting
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy convened an urgent meeting at the Command Control Center on Monday to address the severe flooding resulting from continuous heavy rainfall across the state.
Over the past two days, relentless rains have led to significant flooding, with authorities opening the gates of various projects to manage the excess water and prevent further inundation. Streams and rivers are overflowing, necessitating immediate measures to mitigate damage and ensure public safety.
A comprehensive review of flood relief efforts was conducted during the meeting. Khammam district has been particularly hard-hit, with rivers, streams, and ponds swelling dangerously. Tragically, the rainfall has resulted in the loss of ten lives to date.
The Chief Minister is actively monitoring the situation and maintaining constant communication with district Collectors, Superintendents of Police (SPs), and Commissioners of Police (CPs). Efforts are being intensified to enhance accessibility for affected communities and address their immediate needs.
To facilitate communication and provide support, a toll-free number, 040-23454088, has been set up at the Secretariat for feedback and inquiries from districts.
The emergency meeting included key officials such as Ministers Venkat Reddy and Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, CM’s Advisor Vem Narendar Reddy, and Director General of Police (DGP) Jitendar. The collaborative effort underscores the government’s commitment to managing the crisis and supporting affected residents.
