Telangana Government Plans Family Digital Cards for Comprehensive Welfare Services
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is set to revolutionize welfare service delivery by issuing digital cards to every family in the state. This innovative single card will not only streamline access to medical care services but will also facilitate the availing of rations and other welfare scheme benefits.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy convened a review meeting on the digital cards with senior officials from the Medical and Health and Civil Supplies departments at his residence. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of studying the successful implementation of similar digital card initiatives in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka. He tasked officials with preparing a comprehensive report that outlines both the benefits and challenges associated with these multi-service cards.
To initiate the project, the Chief Minister directed officials to select one urban area and one village in each of the 119 assembly constituencies to launch a pilot program for the family digital card. This pilot phase aims to gather insights and refine the implementation process.
The proposed family digital card will include the health profiles of each family member, facilitating tailored medical services in the future. A press release from the Chief Minister’s office highlighted that the card is intended to assist ration card holders in accessing various welfare benefits, including medical care and state-sponsored programs.
Additionally, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed officials to incorporate a feature that allows families to update their details regularly, enabling the addition or deletion of family members’ names as needed. This flexibility aims to ensure the card remains accurate and relevant, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of welfare service delivery across Telangana.
