Telangana Minister Announces Plans to Eliminate Dirt Roads and Enhance Infrastructure
Hyderabad: Telangana’s Roads and Buildings Minister, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, announced an ambitious initiative to eliminate all dirt roads in the state, unveiling plans to construct 17,000 kilometers of new roads at an estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crores through the Panchayati Raj and R&B departments.
During a foundation stone-laying ceremony for road construction in Pagidimarri and Mushampalli, Nalgonda district, on October 29, the minister emphasized the Congress-led government’s commitment to infrastructure development as a key driver for economic growth.
Key Projects
Reddy highlighted the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, set to cost Rs 30,000 crores, which aims to significantly improve traffic flow and connectivity across the region. This project is expected to play a vital role in bolstering the local economy.
He also announced the upcoming launch of the Indiramma housing scheme, aimed at providing homes for 3,500 impoverished families in each constituency, reflecting the government’s dedication to enhancing living conditions for its citizens.
Additionally, the minister discussed the SLBC tunnel project, which has been allocated a budget of Rs 4,600 crores. He noted that essential machinery parts are being sourced from the United States for repairs, ensuring that the project meets its two-year completion timeline. This tunnel is designed to provide critical water resources for farmers, further supporting agricultural sustainability.
Commitment to Progress
In a strong response to criticism from BRS leaders, Komatireddy labeled their statements as “baseless” and reiterated his commitment to improving infrastructure and living standards throughout Telangana.
