Tamil Nadu BJP Requests Election Commission to Ban Rahul Gandhi’s Campaign

Chennai: A.N.S. Prasad, the spokesperson for the Tamil Nadu BJP, has formally urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to prohibit Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from campaigning, citing concerns that his actions threaten the unity and social harmony of the country.

In a statement, Prasad condemned Gandhi’s recent remarks, claiming they have caused significant distress among farmers in Haryana and violate election regulations for political gain. “Rahul’s baseless allegations and insults hurt farmers’ sentiments, undermining national integrity and social cohesion,” he stated, emphasizing the need for immediate action from the ECI to prevent further disruptions to India’s social fabric.

Prasad accused Gandhi of making derogatory comments about India and its people from abroad, suggesting that these remarks were aimed at inciting division among communities. He highlighted that during an election rally in Haryana, Gandhi allegedly provoked farmers with false claims, thus violating established election guidelines.

Further criticizing Gandhi’s rhetoric, Prasad asserted that such hate speech undermines the democratic framework of India and poses a threat to peace and social harmony. He demanded that the ECI take swift and decisive action against Gandhi, referencing past incidents where Gandhi’s comments about the Sikh community sparked outrage.

The BJP spokesperson noted that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is dedicated to national welfare initiatives, including affordable housing, free medical treatment, and improved access to banking services. Prasad argued that these efforts reflect PM Modi’s commitment to social justice and equality, drawing parallels with the ideals of prominent social reformers such as Saint Ravidas, Kabir Das, and Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Prasad further mentioned that Gandhi’s derogatory remarks also insult historical figures like Veer Savarkar, who faced immense hardships for India’s freedom. He pointed to ongoing legal actions against Gandhi, including a defamation case initiated by the Nashik district police in Maharashtra regarding his comments about Savarkar.

In conclusion, Prasad reiterated his call for the Election Commission to intervene and uphold the law, safeguarding India’s unity and integrity from what he described as unlawful and harmful rhetoric from Rahul Gandhi.
