Hyderabad: In a significant enforcement action, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) conducted inspections targeting unqualified practitioners operating in the Chintal, Shapur, and IDPL areas of Hyderabad. The initiative aims to address the serious risk posed by individuals providing medical treatment without the necessary qualifications, according to officials.
Teams comprising eight members each conducted the inspections, uncovering that patients were being treated by these unqualified individuals. The inspections revealed that these quacks were prescribing high-dose antibiotics and utilizing various surgical instruments. Some had even established medical shops and diagnostic centers as part of their illegal operations.
“People should not risk their health by seeking medical treatment from such unqualified quacks,” warned TSMC members.
TSMC officials stated they would submit their findings to the council and the district medical and health officer. They plan to take necessary actions to shut down these centers and ensure the registration of FIRs against the unqualified practitioners.
The inspection was led by Dr. Pratibha Lakshmi, Dr. Kiran Kumar, Dr. Sunny Davis, Dr. Imran Ali, Dr. K. Vishnu, and Pandu, among others.
The Telangana State Medical Council has been conducting inspections of fake doctors’ centers over the past few weeks. To date, around fifty FIRs have been registered, with two fake doctors recently being remanded and sent to Chanchalguda Jail.
These unqualified practitioners, who often claim to be rural doctors, have also been found operating in Hyderabad. On Friday, the Medical Council conducted its first inspections in the city.
