Two Arrested in Hyderabad Over Alleged Photo Morphing Controversy
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with an alleged photo morphing case that has ignited a political feud between the Congress party and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). The suspects, identified as Devanna, a former sarpanch from Konapur in Nizamabad district, and Mahesh, a businessman from Raikal in Jagtial district, were taken into custody by cyber crime police for allegedly altering images related to an official government event.
The controversy erupted after a recent program in which BJP Medak MP M Raghunandan Rao presented forests minister Konda Surekha with a handwoven scarf during her visit to his constituency. The situation escalated further when Surekha made remarks involving the personal lives of several Tollywood actors, including Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Akkineni Nagarjuna, and Akkineni Amala. Her comments drew widespread attention and debate, overshadowing the initial issue of alleged disrespect towards a female minister by a male MP.
In response to the uproar, MP Raghunandan Rao lodged a formal complaint with the cyber crime police, requesting action against those responsible for the morphing incident. The arrests on Tuesday are seen as a direct result of this complaint and the growing demand for accountability.
This incident highlights the increasingly contentious nature of political discourse in the region, where personal attacks and controversies can rapidly escalate, drawing public and media attention. As the investigation continues, the implications of this case on the political landscape in Telangana remain to be seen.
