Tamil film icon Thalapathy Vijay recently announced his political entry with the formation of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Contrary to earlier expectations, Vijay has indicated that he will not be participating in the 2024 General Elections but plans to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Additionally, he has expressed his intention to retire from the film industry upon becoming actively involved in politics.
Currently, Vijay is engrossed in the production of his upcoming film, GOAT, under the direction of Venkat Prabhu. Following this project, he is scheduled to work on another film tentatively titled Thalapathy 69. Earlier reports had suggested that Vijay’s final film would be produced by DVV Entertainment and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran.
The prospect of a collaboration between Vijay and Vetrimaaran, renowned for his adeptness in integrating social issues into mainstream cinema, had generated significant excitement among fans and the film industry alike. However, Vetrimaaran recently confirmed that the anticipated project with Vijay will not materialize.
During a recent awards ceremony, Vetrimaaran responded to queries regarding his planned collaboration with Vijay by suggesting that such questions should be directed to those responsible for spreading the rumors. He further mentioned, “I have a script prepared for him, but I don’t foresee the project materializing in the near future,” leaving fans of Thalapathy disappointed with the update.
