Etawah: BJP MLA Sarita Bhadauriya Falls onto Railway Tracks During Vande Bharat Express Flag-Off
Etawah: A video capturing BJP Etawah MLA Sarita Bhadauriya falling onto the railway tracks while attempting to wave the green flag for the Agra-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express has gone viral on social media. The incident took place on Monday, September 16, at a crowded platform around 6 PM as the train arrived.
The 61-year-old second-term MLA was among several individuals on the platform holding the green flag as the train, which had been virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and flagged off by Rail Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu from Agra, approached.
According to BJP’s Etawah unit treasurer Sanjeev Bhadauriya, “The MLA was promptly helped off the tracks and then remained at the platform for the flag-off event.” He added, “She consulted doctors later and is now resting at home. While there are no visible injuries, any potential internal injuries are yet to be confirmed.”
The Vande Bharat Express made its stop at Tundla before reaching Etawah. The platform was chaotic as various political figures, including Samajwadi Party MP Jitendra Douwhare, former BJP MP Ram Shankar, and MLA Sarita Bhadauriya, gathered for the event.
As the train’s horn signaled its departure, supporters jostled for position, leading to a commotion. During the melee, Bhadauriya was inadvertently pushed off the platform and fell onto the tracks. Fortunately, bystanders managed to stop the train in time, preventing a major accident. She was quickly rescued by police and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Regarding the Vande Bharat Express operation, PRO Prashasti Srivastava from the Agra division of the railways stated that the operational date will be announced soon. The train is expected to cover the distance between Agra and Varanasi in approximately seven hours. The service from Agra to Varanasi will be designated as number 20175, while the return service will be number 20176.
