New Delhi: X, a prominent social media platform, is set to introduce a dedicated TV app in a move to compete with Google-owned YouTube, announced CEO Linda Yaccarino.
The user interface of the upcoming X TV app bears a resemblance to that of YouTube.
In a statement on the platform, Yaccarino highlighted X’s expansion from mobile to television screens.
“We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of the X TV App, bringing real-time, engaging content to smart TVs. This platform aims to deliver a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on larger screens,” commented the CEO.
The X TV app promises users a trending video algorithm, AI-powered topic categorization, a seamless cross-device experience, advanced video search capabilities, easy casting, and broad compatibility with most smart TVs in the near future.
“We will continue to keep our community updated and encourage feedback and suggestions. X is built with our community in mind,” added Yaccarino.
The trending video algorithm is designed to curate popular and relevant content for users. AI-powered topics will categorize videos by subject, and the app will also offer an enhanced video search feature.
Responding to the announcement, an X user suggested the inclusion of a video playlist or index for creators to allow them to create and manage their playlists.
