YS Avinash Reddy Challenges Ruling Alliance Over Elections and Opposition Status
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Member of Parliament YS Avinash Reddy has posed a direct challenge to the ruling alliance government, questioning its preparedness for elections in Kuppam, Pithapuram, and Mangalagiri constituencies under a proposed “Super Six” referendum. His remarks come in response to claims made by alliance leaders regarding a potential disqualification of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, which could trigger a by-election in Pulivendula.
Speaking in Kadapa, Avinash Reddy criticized the government for failing to effectively implement the “Super Six” schemes, which have led to increasing public discontent. He also voiced concerns over the ruling alliance’s refusal to grant YSRCP the status of the principal opposition party in the assembly. “The ruling alliance is afraid of the questions we raise in the assembly. That is why they are not granting us the status of the main opposition,” he remarked.
The YSRCP leader emphasized that, despite the 11-seat criterion used to determine opposition status, there is only one true opposition party in the state—YSRCP. He pointed out that out of the four parties in the assembly, three are part of the government, leaving YSRCP as the sole legitimate opposition. Avinash Reddy further accused the alliance government of deceiving the public by denying the party its rightful opposition status.
His comments have stirred significant political discourse, especially in the context of ongoing tensions between YSRCP and the ruling alliance. With elections and by-elections on the horizon, the political dynamics in the state remain fluid and closely watched.
