Prime Minister Modi Meets Singapore President to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in productive discussions with Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, marking a key highlight of his two-day visit to the city-state. This visit, Modi’s fifth official trip to Singapore, aims to explore and enhance bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
In a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the successful meeting, noting that Modi expressed gratitude to President Shanmugaratnam for his dedicated support of the partnership. The discussions focused on expanding and deepening the cooperation between India and Singapore.
Earlier in his visit, Modi also met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The leaders agreed to elevate the relationship to a “comprehensive strategic partnership,” signaling a significant advancement in bilateral ties. Additionally, Modi had discussions with former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, addressing potential collaborations in green energy and financial technology (FinTech).
This visit underscores the ongoing commitment of both countries to strengthen their bilateral relationship and explore new areas of mutual interest.
