New Delhi: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal alleged on Wednesday that senior party leaders were pressuring others to speak against her and engage in actions intended to defame her.
Maliwal, speaking through a statement on social media platform X, revealed, “Yesterday, a senior party leader contacted me and disclosed ongoing pressures within the party to tarnish my reputation, including spreading malicious rumors and leaking personal photographs. Allegedly, there are threats of expulsion for those who support me.”
She further claimed that specific individuals have been assigned tasks such as organizing press conferences, managing social media campaigns, and orchestrating fabricated sting operations to discredit her.
Addressing her detractors, Maliwal asserted, “Despite facing an orchestrated campaign against me, I stand resolute in defending the truth alone if need be.”
Expressing her stance on the situation, she remarked, “I harbor no ill will towards AAP leaders, recognizing the influence of the accused, who wields considerable power. It saddens me that even senior leaders hesitate to confront him. I seek justice and fight for my dignity.”
“I have embarked on a journey to reclaim my integrity and will persevere until justice is served. Despite the challenges, I remain steadfast in my resolve,” Maliwal concluded.
Earlier on May 18, Bibhav Kumar, a close aide to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was arrested in connection with the assault on Swati Maliwal. He was presented before a local court late at night and remanded to five days of police custody. The Delhi Police have registered a case against Kumar under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempted culpable homicide and molestation, following the alleged assault at the Chief Minister’s residence on May 13.
